As the entire nation observed the  anniversary of the declaration of the Philippine Independence on Monday, June12, simultaneous flag-raising, wreath-laying ceremonies and foot parade by the different sectors higlighted the nationwide celebrations.

Bannering the theme, “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan, the 125th observance of Philippine Independence Day kick off with a flag-raising at the Rizal Triangle in Olongapo City, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the national hero’s monument.

The event was led by City Mayor Rolen “Lenj” Paulino Jr. and other city officials.

The city officials were divided into two groups, with one, led by Mayor Lenj and Congressman Jay Khonghun attending the tribute to “Super Pinoys” at SM Central Olongapo and another, led by Vice Mayor Jong Cortez, going to SM Downtown for a similar program.

Similar programs were organized inside the Subic Bay Freeport, where Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) chairman and administrator Jonathan Tan and other SBMA officials spearheaded the occasion.

The programs were filled with celebratory speeches and messages, nationalistic music, and performances of Filipino folk dancers.
