Collegiate beach volleyball is back in Subic, and is open to the public.

In a press briefing held Wednesday, Efren Jose Supan, chairman of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 99 management committee encouraged Olongapo, Zambales and Bataan residents to watch the volleyball games.

“There are players from this  area and I hope friends and families will witness the beach volleyball action in Subic.”

The games will be held at the sand court beside Subic Gym, from 7am to 5pm, starting on January 24 to 28.

10 member schools of the NCAA are competing for the men’s, women’s and junior’s championships.

About 200 athletes, coaches and families of NCAA schools are now in Subic, housed in hotels in the freeport such as Terrace Hotel and Bayfront Hotel.

The NCAA has been holding its beach volleyball games in the freeport since Season 88, or for 11 years now.

Atty. Ruel John Kabigting, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Deputy Administrator for Administration welcomed the NCAA Season 99 beach volleyball tournament to the freeport, in behalf of new SBMA chairman and administrator Eduardo Aliño.

In his welcome remark, Kabigting said  Subic offered a beautiful place blessed with mountain and sea, and ease in going to places in the freeport.

Supan also talked of the warm reception and the relationship with the SBMA and the people. “This is like our second home,” he added.
