OLONGAPO CITY – The city government of Olongapo is suspending work on Thursday afternoon, July 27, due to continuing heavy rains caused by Typhoon “Egay”.

City Administrator Robert Reginald Paulino issued a memorandum addressed to all department and division heads as well as all city employees advising the suspension of work.

“Work in government offices in Olongapo City is suspended starting at noon today for the safety of all concerned,” the memorandum reads.

However, said Paulino, those whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, disaster response, and other vital services are exempted from the order.

Earlier, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chairman and Administrator Jonathan Tan made a similar announcement for the safety of all workers, locators, and residents in the Freeport.

The suspension of work in private institutions is left at the discretion of their respective management but some locators inside the free port, such as Sanjo-Denki, called up nearby communities to inquire if it was safe to send their employees home as heavy rains continue. FREEPORT INSIDER
