A local branch of Western Union in Olongapo City was robbed early Wednesday (June 21), losing a still undetermined amount of cash in the morning heist, authorities said.

Policemen immediately responded to the crime scene along Magsaysay Road, but initial reports indicated that the culprits managed to escape.

Lt. Colonel Cris Cordero, city deputy director for operations, said they were still investigating the robbery at the money transfer branch that took place around 9 a.m.

“We’re reviewing the security cameras for possible identification [of the robbers],” said Cordero, noting that the witnesses saw the culprits riding on a motorcycle.

Police have yet to say how much the robbers carted away in their morning heist.

The owner of the establishment refused to give a statement.

It was the first robbery on money transfer branches in the city since January, Cordero told Freeport Insider. REPORTS FROM DOLLY MOSE, JENNYROSE BITAGO AND JASMINE BUNDALIAN
