Massive flooding inundated roads and houses in several areas of Olongapo City and Zambales province due to incessant rains spawned by the southwest monsoon, which is now being strengthened by Typhoon “Falcon.”

On Saturday night (July 29), many residents in Olongapo took to social media with desperate pleas for help as the floodwater reached their roofs.

At least 117 families, or more than 500 people, from Olongapo had been displaced by the flooding.

The hardest hit were the villages of New Kababae, Mabayuan, New Ilalim, New Cabalan, Sta. Rita, Gordon Heights and Barretto.

In Zambales, the whole Barangay San Miguel in San Antonio town had turned into a lake as heavy rains and flash floods pounded the coastal municipality.

The waist-high water submerged houses in low-lying areas, residents said.
